An international conference entitled "Jews in the Balkans: History, Society and Culture"
In the period from 29.09. - 02.10.2013 in the premises of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts was held an international conference entitled "Jews in the Balkans: history, society and culture."
This conference was organized by the Holocaust Fund of the Jews from Macedonia in cooperation with the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, and Bar Ilan University in Israel.
The grand opening of the conference was held on September 29, 2013 in the premises of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, where a welcoming speech was given by Academician Vlado Kambovski, President of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Dr. Shimon Ohio, Director of the Dahan Center at the University Bar Ilan in Israel, Rabbi Eli Ben Dehan, Deputy Minister of Religious Services of the State of Israel, Valentina Bozinovska, Director of the Commission for Relations with Religious Communities and Groups, His Excellency Josef Amrani, Ambassador of the State of Israel to Macedonia, Dr. Pinkas Haliva, Chief Executive Officer of Ashkelon Academic College in Israel, Ljiljana Mizrahi, Honorary Member of the Board of Directors of the Macedonian Jewish Holocaust Fund, Goran Sadikario, Chief Executive Officer of the Holocaust Memorial Center of the Jews of Macedonia and Dr. Sehri Salti, founder of the Center for Cold Studies at Bar Ilan University in Israel.
The conference was attended by a number of world-renowned historians and researchers in the field of Sephardic history, language and culture.
